Results of Friday Night Sew In

On her bed in her natural state

Mystery #1 love these easy to make stars with no setin seams
Well I had the house to myself last night except for the family dog. I got a lot accomplished too. I worked up the next step in a mystery I am presenting to guild this Tuesday.

After that was done...I dug out the next to last clue in Bonnie Hunter's mystery from Christmas. Now I have not been procrastinating...I am playing along as I give the clues one by one to another guild that I belong to. That's right 2 guilds...well actually three guilds all totalled, and I don't live in a big city. When my eyes had had enough of sewing, I sat down to do some relaxing handquilting on my daughter's quilt and enjoy a chick flick. One more roll of the boards and I should be able to finish it in time for our quilt show at the end of April. Dalughter Kelly was not to pleased when I told her she couldn't have her quilt till after the show! Oh well.

Bonnie Hunter Mystery

Almost finished!

Today I have to myself again..and am headed to the sewing room to finish what I started last night. I also have all the fabric picked for a baby quilt for my niece who just had a baby. Baby quilts are so much fun to make I think! Enjoy your Saturday,Nathional Quilting Day, hug a quilt or a quilter!!!

Feels like Spring

The sun is shining and the temperatures are warming up. Which all leads to time change day.Spring forward today. I giggled when I saw this pic on Bonnie Hunter's blog. There isn't enough time as it is.

I have busy quilting away on my daughter's quilt. Only a couple more rows and I will be done. Then it will be ready to go into our Spring quilt show in April. Wonder how I am gonna break that to her that she can't have it till after April 28.She has been waiting since last August.. have mentioned she is a very patient girl. Today I am spending some time in my sewing room making kits for a workshop at guild  on curve piecing. How do I get myself into these things. I will be showing how to make yoyos and how to piece the curves of a double wedding ring. Have a great weekend.

Winter Wonderland

It has been snowing a little every day for the last week including today.Yup I feel like I am living in one of those shaker globes that someone doesn't want to put down because it looks so pretty. Luckily I do love the snow but only when dear hubby's tractor is working. It has a major broken part right now and we are clearing snow  the old fashion way...by shovel. Guess that is life in northern Ontario. It is not all hardship, as I get to go for my first massage today and after all the shoveling I need it.

I spent this past Saturday at a workshop for the hunter star although  I decided to work on some UFO's instead.I made  a bag for a silent auction at our quilt show this Spring. We had 3 fat quarters given to us for $10 and we were to make somethng.I also got a baby quilt to the binding stage that will be going to Project Linus here in our area.Lastly I got some more clues done on Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt. Yes I know it was from Christmas but we are doing it as a guild project so we are just getting to the putting it together part.
It is guild meeting tonight so I am not getting too much done today but tomorrow is another day.
Oh and almost forgot big news...my daughter got a job and has moved out. Although we are sad to see her go, she is so excited to start on the next stage in her young life!!

It's No Fun Being Sick

Triplets sweaters, I think they are adorable!
Mid February and I have been fighting a sore throat and bad cough for almost two weeks...yuck! But sitting and vegging out has its benefits...I was able to get the triplets sweaters done and they will be mailed out tomorrow. I have put together a baby panel quilt so I can practice hand quilting again. So that I can get some work done on my daughter's quilt. It has been awhile since I worked on it and my is starting to tease me about it. But there is curling on TV and it gives me incentive to do more quilting.

My daughter has decided she wants to learn to knit. Never touched needles before. So yesterday she goggled knitting and practiced all afternoon. Then last evening we sat together and we honed her knitting skills. She has picked out a headband pattern and is doing quite well. As we were knitting she asked me "how frustrating is this for you mom" and I said " well daughter how frustrating is it for you when you are helping me with the computer stuff"...we both had a good laugh!!!Those are definitely special moments!

Getting it done!

Good morning...

Up early this morning and filled with hope of getting something productive done today. The camera is working...it was just the camera person and lighting that weren't cooperating last night. So here is a pic of the wee baby quilt tops that I made yesterday at our sewing bee.
Two cuties for little girls.
Also this weekend I finished the binding on this purple quilt. It is a gift for a relative who is a big Baltimore Ravens fan, thus the colours!I found the perfect plaid brushed cotton for the backing too. I taught a workshop a couple of weeks ago at guild and this was my sample along with another blue one seen here. It isn't finished yet because I am thinking I would like to handquilt feathers on the columns.

Manly enough?
Have a great Monday with whatever you choose to do!!! Enjoy yourself and have fun, isn't that what it is all about!

Relaxing Sunday

Even though I am barely able to talk...laryngitis, I was still able to join some guild members in a sewing bee today to make baby quilts. We make 24" square quilts for the neo-natal unit at our local hospital. I was able to get two tops made from a bag of scraps that I took along from my stash. And I didn't even use up the whole bag...urggg!Unfortunately my camera is not cooperating tonight and I will try to post pics tomorrow. It was not a slow stitching Sunday but I sewed up a storm and got these two done. Also this week I finished the second of three baby sweaters that I am making for a friend's daughter who is having triplets...that's right three babies! I still can't believe it...three babies!!

Snail's Pace

Even though it is making a mess
it is still kind of pretty.
Not to give snails a bad name but they are slow. That seems to be me this week.We have had some strange weather...from -30 to pouring rain back to -25 in the span of 4 days. The creek has been rising in my backyard and poor hubby has been trying to break ice and reroute water to keep the water away from his garages. Needless to say having him working from home puts a crinkle in my plans and what I get done. I know it shouldn't but it does. I am hoping to be a little more productive this afternoon and tomorrow and be able to show you what I have been up to on Monday. Let's hope I find that ambition I have lost somewhere.

Sewing room chaos

I was determined to get something done today. I took a pic before I got started. In this pic there are 5 projects at various levels of comp...
