Catching my Breath

Woke up to -29 Celsius this morning and now it is late afternoon and it is snowing. I took advantage of the warmer weather to take down some outside Christmas decorations.
They are so small and adorable.
It has been a busy week. Two guild meetings, shopping day with my daughter, knitting day and a baby shower for triplets. This is definitely a day of rest and catching up. I am making sweaters for the triplets and this is one of two for the girls and the little boy's one will be something different.

I have also been wanting to get back to hand quilting. I promised my daughter a graduation quilt for all her hard work. So this is it and it has been on the poles since November. I haven't worked on it since before Christmas.YIKES!! At this rate it might be her grad/new job quilt!!
Love how the quilting shows unfortunately
this is only the first row on a queen size quilt

Keeping busy on cold winter days

My backyard in early December, now covered over with ice.
So it has been a busy week. Hubby has been gone and is home now only to find the creek beside us has risen and flooded one of his storage sheds. It has been very cold here -32 Celsius most mornings, so the ice level is building. It is pretty to look at but the damage is could case not so nice.
Workshop quilt done in blue and white,
not quite  finished the other one.
On the sewing front I had two of my three guilds to go to this week. On Tuesday I was teaching a workshop of a fairly simple pattern that I picked up awhile back.I have done my pattern in blue and whites and the sample I made up was done is purple, black and gold for a gift for someone.Lots of simple flip and sewing....actually quite mind numbing. Also gave out the first clues for a mystery quilt. I found the pattern in a magazine and thought it lend itself nicely to being a mystery. As soon as I figure out how to do photos on here I will upload some.

Yesterday a smaller guild I belong to had a work day. We have been working on charity quilts. We decided that charity begins at home and so one of the quilts is for one of our members that is in the middle of treatment for breast cancer. So today was groceries and  maybe tomorrow I will get to see my sewing room after I go knitting with my girls.

New Beginnings

Hello Blogland
You know all those times you said you were gonna do something and never did. Well I told a friend that maybe this was the year I would become a blogger. So with nothing stopping me but a small lack of computer skills I am setting off on this adventure with a little help from my computer skilled and patient daughter.
I am not sure I can be as diligent as some of you but I will try.Today was to be a day of sewing to get ready for a class I will be teaching on Tuesday but mother nature had other plans. I woke up to 5 inches of snow on the ground and the driveway needed cleaning first so hubby and his tractor could clear it away. I do love when it is snowing out ..everything looks so serene.
But now that this blog has started and the snow removal is complete, I am headed to the basement to my sewing room to accomplish something today.

You just never know!

The other day a friend texted me and asked if I recognized the photo she sent me. It was a photo of a quilt, one that I had made last year ...
